Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway

Welcome to our virtual exhibition stand.

Please check out our downloadable information and drop in for a video chat.

Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway is an award winning heritage visitor attraction and Lake District icon, living up to its “must do” reputation for all ages. Our five heritage steam engines transport passengers from Ravenglass, the only coastal village in the UNESCO World Heritage Site Lake District National Park, to Dalegarth for Boot some 210ft above sea level.

The journey takes 40 minutes each way and passes seven intermediate request stops which are perfect for walking. Cosy covered and open top carriages provide the best of comfort and views as you travel up the line. And with the introduction of our brand new 1st Class Observation Carriage, you can upgrade and travel in true luxury!

Excellent facilities at both ends of the line make for a truly great all weather day out. At Ravenglass you will find the recently renovated Ravenglass Railway Musuem. Free to enter, this is where you will discover the history of the Railway and can even get hands on with the interactive exhibits. Turntable Café, located on platform one is the perfect place to grab a drink or treat before heading up the line.

Upon arrival at Dalegarth there is something for everyone, with Fellbites Café serving homemade treats, a gift shop with plenty of pocket money gifts as well as great trails and walks to explore in this beautiful corner of the Lake District National Park.
